Charm of Champagnes A. Bergère ✨🥂

Notes from a delicious winetasting of A. Bergère Champagne Labels

Dear wine-lovers readers! Today we're going to transport ourselves to the Champagne region of France and explore the magnific Champagnes of the A. Bergère winery! 🇫🇷🥂

This week, I had the privilege of tasting some impressive labels from the A. Bergère maison. Each one had its own personality and charm, but they all shared the winery's signature: balance, freshness, flavour with fruity notes, a touch of yeast, brioche and a lot of creaminess and persistence in the mouth.

After all, flavour and elegance are the words and characteristics that describe A. Bergère champagnes. Every sip of these gems is an explosion of flavour and elegance. From the first bubble to the last drop, you will be enveloped by a unique experience and complexity.

LABELS TASTED AT THE IMPERIAL WINE CELLAR TASTING

The A. Bergère winery, with its rich family tradition, has been dedicated to creating exceptional Champagnes for generations. They have mastered the art of winemaking, selecting the finest grapes and using traditional methods that give the drink its unrivalled quality. Their blend usually consists of 70% Chardonay, 20% Pinot Noir and 10% Pinot Meunier.

The family members, led by the head winemaker (currently 5th generation), dedicate themselves tirelessly to perfecting every stage of the production process. They continue to honour traditional winemaking practices, while incorporating modern techniques to further elevate the quality of their Champagnes.

In addition, the A. Bergère family is committed to sustainable farming practices and environmental care in their vineyards. They realise the importance of preserving the land for future generations and adopt methods that respect the environment.

The passion and commitment of the current generation of the A. Bergère family are evident in every bottle they produce. They are custodians of the winery's legacy and continue to delight Champagne lovers with wines of the highest quality that reflect the region's unique terroir.

LABELS TASTED:

🥂2019 Champagne A. Bergère Origine (€39.90)

🥂2017 Champagne Bergère Rosé (€45.00)

🥂2019 Champagne A. Bergère Blanc de Blancs Terres Blanches (49,00€)

🥂2018 Champagne A. Bergère Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru (€55.00)

🥂2013 Champagne A. Bergère Prestige Millésime (€70.00)

A. Bergère Origine, with the notes of a classic chardonay, is a sublime choice for celebrating special moments or for a toast to life. Without great complexity, but with the minimum complexity that a champagne requires, this is the ideal label to open and celebrate life. No need to harmonise. However, of course, if you wish, it is possible and I suggest pairing it with soft, unripened cheeses, or even croassaints and/or cheese sticks with puff pastry.

As for the A. Bergère Rosé Brut, it delighted and surprised with its palette of red fruit flavours and delicate floral notes. For a rosé champagne, its complexity and persistence surprised me and therefore begs for an accompaniment!

A. Bergère Blanc de Blancs was my favourite (49 euros)! With its incomparable elegance and notes of brioche and cream, this Champagne is the ideal pairing for delicate dishes, such as a tasty Fish a belle meuniere, in which we have the lightness of the fish, the creamy and rich sauce of the butter fat and the saltiness of the caper added to the earthy flavour of the mushroom.

The elegance of Chardonnay also shines through on the Blanc de Blancs Brut Gran Cru label. This Champagne is made exclusively from Chardonnay grapes harvested from the winery's vineyards. The exclusivity of this grape variety gives the wine a unique and distinctive character.

One of the labels that surprised me was the A. Bergère Brut Millésimé 2010, which had notes of green apple, but with aromas of yeast and a vibrant acidity that would certainly extend the life of the champagne for a few more years in the bottle. I think that's why it wasn't my favourite, because from the taste and intense aroma, I can see that it could still evolve further. The perfect accompaniment to this label, 2010, opened today 2023, would be a delicious and succulent duck magret.

Perfect pairings

Blanc de Blancs Brut is a versatile Champagne that can be enjoyed on its own, as an aperitif, or with a variety of dishes. Some pairing suggestions include:

* Seafood: Its acidity and freshness make it an incredible partner for seafood such as oysters, prawns and scallops.

* Light Dishes: Goes wonderfully with lighter dishes such as fresh green salads and grilled fish.

* Mild Cheeses: Try it with mild cheeses, such as goat's cheese or brie, for a gourmet experience.

* Special Moments: A perfect choice for celebrating life's special moments, making every toast memorable.

Explore delicacy beyond flavour, as A. Bergère Champagnes are a true work of art in bottles. Their labels showcase the beauty of the Champagne region and the winery's passion for wine production.

It's inspiring to see how the family keeps tradition and excellence in Champagne production alive. If you get the chance to visit the winery, you'll be able to see first-hand the family's passionate work and taste these effervescent masterpieces. 🥂🌿 #ABergere #Champagne #FamilyTradition #ArtisanalWines
